Patrick Harris, D.O. joins UF Health St. Johns, expands access to primary care

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Patrick J. Harris, D.O., a board certified family medicine physician, has joined UF Health St. Johns and is now caring for patients at UF Health Primary Care – Treaty Oaks. Dr. Harris’ clinical expertise spans the full scope of primary care with special emphasis on improving patient health using osteopathic medicine.

Dr. Harris’ primary care practice provides management and treatment of the full range of health conditions. He is an expert in skin surgeries — including benign and malignant skin lesion biopsy and removal — toenail surgeries and joint injections. He also provides care for cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension, high cholesterol and heart arrhythmias; sports medicine and non-surgical musculoskeletal disorders; respiratory infections, flu and colds; and geriatric medicine to care for the unique medical, mental and psychosocial needs of senior patients.

As an osteopathic physician, Dr. Harris focuses on treating the whole person — mind, body and spirit. He offers osteopathic manipulation treatment, known as OMT, to address a wide variety of conditions such as arthritis and headaches, as well as musculoskeletal injuries and aches that include lower back, neck and joint pain. OMT can help improve patients’ mobility and range of motion, and it can be used in combination with other medical therapies to improve patient outcomes.

Dr. Harris earned his medical degree in osteopathic medicine from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and completed his internship and residency in family practice at Columbus Regional Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association and the American Academy of Family Practice. Dr. Harris contributes to medical education as an adjunct preceptor for the Bradenton, Florida, branch of the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM), welcoming LECOM medical students into his practice for month-long primary care rotations.

Though born in San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Harris was raised in Crescent City, Florida, and is a lifelong resident of the Palatka and Putnam County communities.
